Bourke Builders is proud to have collaborated with B3architects and the school community of St Mary’s Primary School in Rushworth on a transformative redevelopment of the campus’s aging north wing. Guided by an inclusive Master Planning process involving students, staff and parents, the project brought fresh life to one of the school’s most established areas—bridging heritage with modern learning needs.

A key highlight of the design was activating an underutilised semi-basement, which now houses a bright and functional art and STEM room with direct access to a covered outdoor area—perfect for messy creativity and hands-on exploration. The upper level was fully reimagined to include two refurbished learning areas with improved sightlines and flow to the central courtyard, strengthening visual and physical connections to the south wing’s administration and library.

A whole-of-school assembly space now provides vital vertical integration between levels, improving circulation and bringing a renewed sense of unity to the campus. Adding a splash of local identity and joy, a bold feature graphic by Flying Pig Design faces Southam Street and playfully celebrates native flora and fauna—creating an inviting landmark for the wider community.

This project reflects St Mary’s deep commitment to creativity, connection, and inclusive growth—values that are now embedded in the very fabric of their learning spaces.
